All About Me

This week theme is All About Me. The objective is for him to know everything about himself lah.. huhu! I was nervous to start our very first week of homeschooling. I have prepared everything before hand. The syllabus, timetable, materials and such. So here we go...

SUNDAY

The lesson is outside as we have to attend voluntary works to help the people affected by the flood in East Coast. So why not we bring the kids along. There's a lot to learn. But still I tried to implement the lesson I planned in the timetable.

Hafazan: Surah An-Nas

Alhamdulillah he already mastered this surah, so it is just a revision for him.

Tafseer: Surah An-Nas.

We listen to Ana Muslim's song of Allah Raja Manusia of which the lyrics is the translation of the Surah An-Nas. Then we chatted about the surah. How Allah could be Rabb, where he provides us with everything we need in this world. Al-Malik, where Allah controls everything and Allah as Ilah, so we have to worship him. And how shaytaan  is our forever enemy. So we have to ask protection from Allah by always reciting do'a. Then we watch Menghalang Godaan Syaitan animation series. I would describe more about this series later. Anyway, these were all done in our car. Hehe!

Arts & Craft:

Back at home, I asked him to draw his self portrait. I provide him with the template and he has to draw the face. I managed to slip in and bought a googly eyes for this activity. Here is his masterpiece! Jeng, jeng, jeng!

He insisted for the portrait to be colored in green shirt similar to what he was wearing. Haha!

Smile for the camera!

Tadaaa!

On Thursday, for Writing, I ask him to complete a story About Me.

Anyway, here's the most valuable lesson learnt from the day, depicted from our FB page:

Today supposed to be the day one of my children homeschool. Unlike others orientation day, today they doesn't get to familiarized themselves with the classroom, but we bring them outside instead. No reading done, no writing, no colouring like what a normally pre-kinder do, but to ride on valuable lessons on life. Something that they can't learn in school by sitting in class.

We started off the day by the kids following Ibu to visit their special friends. Children that were chosen by Allah for a test that insyaAllah will make them a special strong person one day. We visited the children orphaned by floods when both of their parents drowned when the boat they took capsized. Only baby Adifa left at home that morning, the rest of her siblings was away to other relative's house. Maryam adored the baby so much, that she can't stop kissing her

Then we brought them to distribute the goodies to people affected by the flood. Ayyash carried the heavy packets himself and handed it over to the people. He was so proud of himself for being able to do kindness to others. A lesson on life; a lesson on how we should be grateful for what ever Allah has granted us with. A lesson on how we should help others in their hardship and never hope for anything in return.

On our way home, as we were waiting for Ayah to come back to the car, Ayyash suddenly requested a toy he saw at the shop in front of us. He was about to cry when I refused, then I told him,

"You have so many good things in life; parents, good home to live in, proper dresses and enough foods. Look at your friends that we saw this morning... they don't have all that. So, would you cry over a single toy you didn't get?"

He stopped whining. We headed home. He never mentioned about the toy anymore. Hopefully, the lessons learnt. InsyaAllah...
